Welcome to the Child Educational Center (CEC)
Meet our Co-Executive Directors
Ellen Veselack and Allegra Inganni
Welcome to the Child Educational Center! Since we opened our doors in 1979, the CEC's values have remained the same, and at the heart of our program, all decisions are based around what we believe is best for children. As you get to know the CEC, we want to make sure we convey those values, and that you come away with an understanding of why the work we do is so important.
At the CEC, we practice emergent curriculum, meaning the curriculum emerges from the children's interests and needs, encouraged and developed by the teachers in a deep and meaningful way. As a play-based program, children's individual developmental needs are met through exploration, freedom, and discovery. All areas of their growth and development are supported as they are nurtured and loved throughout their time at the CEC. As they spend ample time outdoors at any one of our locations, children have the opportunity for uninterrupted play time and open-ended experiences. Children can immerse themselves in an activity, learn valuable social-emotional skills, and have minimal transitions, all while being surrounded by respectful, loving teachers and caregivers.
Children are at the center of everything we do. Parents, teachers, administrators, and our Board circle around the children to provide a high quality, research based, and carefully thought out program that retains the heart and soul it was built on almost fifty years ago. We hope you join us as we continue to fulfill the promise of childhood.
Thank You,
Ellen and Allegra
